I went to the Cleveland Botanical Gardens yesterday. I'd never been, and it was a trip I've been determined to make before I move away from Cleveland. The little penguin was hungover yesterday, but I couldn't resist the gorgeous day and decided to trip out alone. It really is a pretty place, with a diverse little collection of region-based and theme-based exhibits/gardens.
I was in my glory in the herb harden, covertly pinching off tiny snippets of leaves, rolling them between my fingers, and inhaling like a maniac. I wanted to take it all home with me, hehe.
There is a "Children's Garden" that is just full of clever ideas and inspiration for kids. If I ever have the money and the kids and the property, I'd like to design something akin to this to entertain my little ones, rather than relying on a Playstation and shelves of animated flicks.
What else... mm, the Japanese Garden was cool. Not terribly intricate, and the water wasn't running, but I think the Japanese style of design just appeals to me. I find it so calming and inviting.
The Glasshouse, as the Gardens call it, housed two regionally-influenced "forests" -- Madagascar and Costa Rica. They were beautiful, and faring better than the outdoor plants in the summer heat. There were butterflies flying all over the place in both sides.
My camera came back from Casio, fully repaired and looking gorgeous again. I love this thing. I couldn't be happier with my decision (even if it did experience a li'l breakdown)... it's tiny and goes anywhere (which is a plus, as I'd likely leave a larger camera at home more often), and it takes brilliant, sharp, perfectly colored and focused photos. It's really perfect for me (and hot as hell to boot!).
( Some pickies from my Flickr set... )ETA: I almost forgot! I got some free tomato plants! They had a few flats sitting out with a sign that asked people to please take as many as they wanted, that they needed good homes. Hehe. I got six little cuppies of plants -- two cherry, two grape, and two "Jolly Elf" (I didn't recognize the name, but they seem to be another variety of grape) tomatoes! Whoop, whoop!
