I was putting my links list together and realized that attempting to include all the cookbooks I own or want was effectively eating (har har) my link allotment. Thus... here be my definitive list. Cookbooks, by the by, are much more expensive than baseball cards. And do not come with stale pink bubble gum. Damn it all.

Recommendations are welcome. Physical persuasion in the form of perfectly prepared sample recipes fed to me by freshly-showered-but-oh-I-still-managed-to-poof-a-little-flour-on-my-pouty-lower-lip vegans with Australian accents and knee-high argyle socks might perhaps be tolerated as well.

Disclaimer: I am linking to Amazon because, honestly, that is where I learned about many of these books. You can't beat their review and referral features. I advocate sticking it to The Man and buying used/independent if you can afford it, but let us love and exploit what He gives us for free, no? Word to your mother.

Got It:

The Book of Tofu
The Candle Cafe Cookbook
The New Farm Vegetarian CookbookThe Uncheese Cookbook

The Ultimate Uncheese Cookbook
The Saucy Vegetarian
Lantern Vegan Family Cookbook
Raw Food/Real World
Teany Book
The Tofu Cookbook
Tofu Cookery
Tofu Quick & Easy
Vegan with a Vengeance
Vegan World Fusion Cuisine
Vegetarian Burgers
Vice Cream
The Voluptuous Vegan

Need Want It:

Hot Damn and Hell Yeah!
Peanut Butter Planet
The Real Food Daily Cookbook
Real Vegetarian Thai
Vegan Vittles

Considering It:

The Artful Vegan
The Garden of Vegan
How It All Vegan!
La Dolce Vegan!

Sinfully Vegan
Slow Cookers: Fresh From the Vegetarian Slow Cooker or 125 Best Vegetarian Slow Cooker Recipes
Vegan Deli
The Vegetarian Meat and Potatoes Cookbook

Hell No, Get That Thing Away From Me:

Vegan Planet (I've heard too many "blah" and iffy reviews on this 'un... and it's so big that I would probably pass it over in the kitchen, in favor of books with more specialization and character.)

i've gone back and forth on those. i keep hearing mixed reviews -- from the cutesy-ness and overabundance of non-food pics, to many of the recipes not being up to par. i might get one of them out of the library and give a few recipes a go-round soon.

have you used/eaten any dishes from any of these?

I'd also recommend Sinfully Vegan - lots of yummy desserts and the Native Foods Restaurant Cookbook. :)

Cheers

Hehehe, I am trying with all my might to avoid SINFULLY VEGAN. ;) My friend has it and seems to love it, though, so I may cave one of these days.

I haven't heard of the NATIVE FOODS RESTAURANT book... I'm off to research it! Thanks!

Good call on the MEAT AND POTATOES... I've heard rave reviews on that one. I'll have to look into it further.

I have the Uncheese Cookbook and love the bejeezus out of it! :)

Half Price Books always has one or two copies of THE ARTFUL VEGAN (of the Millenium Restaurant) for sale. I look at it every time I'm in there, but haven't been bitten by longing yet. A vegan friend mentioned that she liked how the dishes were all broken up into components, so you could make, say, just a sauce from a recipe, and use it elsewhere.

Y'all are making me think I need a third category of all the books I rejected from the first two... an "Under Consideration" section or something. Hell, and maybe even a "Rejected!" list. Hehe.
